9/1/2016 0 Comments Where Love IsEve was the tender side of Adam. The part that held the beauty. Not only sculpted in outward features of physical grace and desirability, but inwardly. She was his feminine side. Empathetic. Compassionate. The nurturer. God waited to reveal her because she was the pièce de résistance; the piece that would be resisted.
Adam was God displaying His majesty; Eve His splendor. God knew that Satan would see in Eve the embellishment, the embroidery, and the elegance he once had been in heaven. And in seeing, he would know her weakness. So God prepared The Adam by waiting; by creating a deep sense of longing for his other self. “Learning to Love unselfishly is not an easy task. It runs counter to our self-centered nature.” ~Rick Warren Once she was revealed, Adam would seize the opportunity and become like his Father. Adam would become Love. When Lucifer preyed on the weakness in the part of himself that was vulnerable, Adam would lay down his life. I Timothy 2:13&14, “For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result.” Though religion has long blamed the woman, God didn’t. When He came into the garden in the cool of the day, it was Adam He called. By name. He knew what had taken place. He was asking for more than a geographical location. “Where are you? I know what happened. The woman was deceived, but why are you lost? Why didn’t you cover her? Why didn’t you choose to protect her? Adam, I know you weren’t deceived. Didn’t you love her enough to lay your life down so that she could live?” “Do not waste time bothering whether you ‘Love’ your neighbor; act as if you did.” ~C.S. Lewis He knew His beloved Adam would fail to become Love. He knew, because He had already prepared the Lamb. The second Adam had been slain before God breathed into the first. Genesis 3:10-12, “He replied, ‘I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.’ ‘Who told you that you were naked?’ the Lord God asked. ‘Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?’ The man replied, ‘It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.’ Then the LORD God asked the woman, ‘What have you done?’ ‘The serpent deceived me,’ she replied. ‘That’s why I ate it.’” Much was born and much was lost that day. Lost was the delight of walking side by side. Ruling and reigning; The Adam - together. Equal. “Faith makes all things possible; Love makes all things easy.” ~Dwight L. Moody Born was famine, a famine of compassion; lack of empathy. Scarcity. Want. Need. Deprivation. Romans 5:12, “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.” Shortage and drought became common as the battle of all battles began. The Adam at war with himself. Genesis 3:16, “Then he said to the woman, ‘I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.’” One side lording it over the other. The other side trying to control rather than be controlled. “Though we cannot think alike, may we not Love alike?” ~John Wesley What was lost was the ability to Love one another. I John 4:8, “Whoever does not Love, does not know God. For God is Love.” The woman was deceived. The man sinned. The curse fell on all of creation. Romans 8:19-21, “For the anxious longing of creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.” And God placed a cross in the ground to mark a truce in the war between the man and the woman. Love laid down His Own life. Galatians 3:13, “But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.’” Love declared a cease-fire. An end of hostilities. Hope for all of creation. When He brought the Adam together again. I John 4:16&18, “God is Love. Whoever lives in Love lives in God and God in them… There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love drives out fear…” Eve was the tender side of Adam as the woman is the softer side of man, but where Love is there is no fear. Where Love is there is equality. Where Love is there is no selfishness. Where Love is there is hope. Where Love is there is no greater; no lesser. “Where Love is, God is.” ~Henry Drummon
